What are the structural characteristics of voltage transformers?

1) Oil immersed voltage transformer

Oil immersed voltage transformers are divided into single-stage and series single-stage types. The single-stage type can be used for voltage levels of 220kV and below, while the series type can be used for all voltage levels of 66kV and above. The primary and secondary windings of the single-stage type are wound on a common iron core, with insulation not graded, and energy conversion is achieved through magnetic coupling. Cascade type consists of multiple primary windings with the same number of turns assembled on the same iron core with half the number of windings, arranged from top to bottom and connected between high voltage and ground.

2) SF6 gas insulated voltage transformer

The SF6 gas insulated voltage transformer consists of a casing, insulation sleeve, iron core, primary and secondary windings, and installation accessories. The primary winding generally adopts a pagoda shaped layered winding and is wound in a graded manner. The secondary winding is a layered winding, wound closely to the iron core, which is usually a single-phase double column laminated iron core. SF6 gas insulated voltage transformers can be matched with GIS or used as independent SF6 gas insulated voltage transformers.

What are the wiring methods for voltage transformers?

1) Single phase wiring is commonly used in high ground current systems to determine whether there is no voltage or synchronization in the line. Either phase can be connected, but another criterion is to use the corresponding phase of the bus voltage.

2) A voltage transformer connected between two phases of voltage is mainly used in small current grounding systems to determine whether the line is under no voltage or synchronous, because small grounding current systems allow single-phase grounding. If only one single phase to ground voltage transformer is used, if the voltage transformer is exactly in the grounding phase and the measured ground voltage of that phase is zero, it is impossible to verify whether the line is under no voltage. If misjudged, it may cause non synchronous closing

The following should be noted in the wiring of current transformers

1) The secondary side of the 35 kV voltage transformer must not be open circuited during use. When disassembling instruments or relays during use, the secondary side should be short circuited in advance. During installation, the wiring should be reliable and it is not allowed to install fuses on the secondary side;

2) The secondary side must have one end grounded. Prevent insulation damage on the primary and secondary sides, and prevent high voltage from entering the secondary side, endangering personal and equipment safety;

3) Pay attention to polarity when wiring. The polarity terminals on the primary and secondary sides of the current transformer are indicated by letters.

4) The primary side is connected in series in the circuit, and the secondary side relay or measuring instrument is connected in series.
